Yet To Be Released.

Flood of Theft

The city gate is strong but covered in ivy
I can go to sleep with spite but never seize the scheme
A flood of theft tonight and hand carved famine
Concrete is laid at two feet; the day sure is sweet

Bucks stroll along the Washington square
And hazy people try to get you to sign those petitions
A flood of theft tonight indifferent to the changes
That everybody still needs some time to graze

In the morning as I wrestle with necessity and patience
I can hear my grandfather as he talks about his wars
Did you know that everybody’s on the outs with me since it happened?
But everybody’s not you, and I know it’s true.  Where is the glue? You know what to do.

The party came unhitched when the fire happened
Nothing left to give which frustrated the police
A Flood of theft tonight exploding in the alley
Concrete was laid at her feet; you just can’t compete

In the morning as I wrestle with necessity and patience
I can hear my grandfather as he talks about his wars
Did you know that everybody’s on the outs with me since it happened?
But everybody’s not you, and I know it’s true.  Where’s the glue? You know what to do.
