Makeshift

The reality has hit us but hasn’t sunken in
To much to change to far along to think what might have been
I, some art student, thought you spoke of a wall
You trailed off there, who did you say you’re gonna call?
One philistine-pacifist is speaking from his mouth
The other is a prostitute to the ever-growing south
In the other corner Satan stands and removes his coat of fur
We had always hoped nothing like this would ever occur.

But I get to be, oh, so lucky, I get to be here with you.
Let’s not worry about these situations.
We’ll just reconvene when you’re fully clean.
Aint that the fun we’ve been looking for?

Edible chemical medical derision
Terror at the monuments by way of indecision
Pills with nothing make nothing, But health
Is one part placebo and whole lotta wealth
I can’t recall rich athletes dying with AIDS
I can’t say I believe memoirs of presidents on page
I never recall prostitutes this old on the stage
But my memory’s not that good anymore, everything fades.

So I get to be, oh, so lucky, I get to be here with you.
Let’s not worry about these situations.
We’ll just reconvene when you’re fully clean.
Aint that the fun we’ve been looking for?
