The Royal Family

They say the royal family's doing fine and that the castle walls never lose their shine.
The children all see faces at the moon and when they sing it's never out of tune.

Inside the fortress stone, we know the truth; things left undiscovered by their undercover sleuth.
Tensions high; our children wear our nerves and long ago we widen out our curves.

Sometimes there aint no money in the pouch, and often I sleep out on the couch.
And the weight of accusations that we started way to late.
Is enough to tear us apart, but we're just to stubborn to even think to start.

I go downstairs to sit and watch TV. You sit and read and wait for me to come to sleep.
We tried the best to raise the kids with morals, but the only thing we get is family quarrels.

One day, the future rushed into the past, and who we thought we were disintegrated fast.
This union is the only thing that stayed, with memories of some lost serenade.

And though we raise our voices and we scream; Nagging, dragging, lacking self esteem.
The rage is just one page of many others lovers have.
When it comes to the bottom line, I guess the royal family's doing fine.
