They tell you true love is like capitalism;
work hard and it will pay.
True love is more like communism;
you share it everyday.
You follow up the questions
that she asks you with a smile.
You answer so softly and then she holds you,
being tender all the while.
It's true love, everybody knows it is true love.
Some may break it down
to a commitment at the front.
Others may see the secrets hide
in frankly being blunt.
But most of us will be apart
before we'll see the truth,
because it rarely comes in the form of lust
(the byproduct of youth).
That's not true love, everybody knows it aint true love.
Some believe its money.
Some believe its skin.
Some will never be themselves,
or let anybody in.
But occasionally we meet someone
who longs to long you back.
That don't come so easily, it's a theory...
better yet; it's a fact.
It's true love, everybody knows it is true love.
I didn't choose where I was born.
I didn't choose my race.
I didn't ask for God in heaven
to put me in this place.
We never get to choose what happens
in the scurry of day to day.
But I'm thankful for this lady here beside me
who helps me on my way.
It's true love, everybody knows it is true love.
