Lyrics by Release
This is an extensive list, presented in reverse chronological order from when the music appeared on its official studio release. I chose to do it this way so you see a progression with my lyrics, rather than an equality throughout. I have no issues pushing my newer music. This list also features unreleased material, too. Things I'm working on right now. Eventually I'll put up "unreleased" material from each year that releases happened, but that's just too much work right now.
Lyrics by Title
If you have a specific song from an album that you are looking for the real lyrics, this is the place to go. This list only includes songs officially released on one of the records. Of course even this isn't actually a complete list because I refuse to put up the lyrics to the Pendulum-era stuff, and I don't really feel like putting up other stuff.
80-minute mix page
The 80-minute mix came out of the old heritage of mixtapes...I used to make mix-CDs for my girlfriend [now my wife] all the time when we were dating. When the first version of mikevasas.com arrived, I did this thing called the 80 minute mix that was basically an extension of those mixes I made for my girlfriend...with a lot less focus on romantic stuff. Well, I'm bringing them back now. Every Friday (or late thursday night), I'll put up a mix which includes the record you can find it on.
I like the idea of quotations, mostly because they are usually far more applicable and thought-provoking when taken out of context and used without the consent of the original speaker. Everybody communicates.
Quote pages on websites are pretty cliche, so let's keep the cliche's going...music quotes!
Don't play what's there, play what's not there. -Miles Davis
At the opera in Milan with my daughter and me, Needleman leaned out of his box and fell into the orchestra pit. Too proud to admit it was a mistake, he attended the opera every night for a month and repeated it each time. -Woody Allen
Avant-garde music is sort of research music. You're glad someone's done it but you don't necessarily want to listen to it. -Brian Eno
Musicians are there in front of you, and the spectators sense their tension, which is not the case when you're listening to a record. Your attention is more relaxed. The emotional aspect is more important in live music. -Brian Eno
What's the difference between an essay and a rant? A rant is kind of like a blog (or may in fact first be posted in my blog) that tends to ignore the classiness of good essay writing and more or less may defame or destroy a person, organization, place of buisness, etc. Mom always said if you haven't got anything good to say, don't say anything at all, and this is basically the opposite idea. If you've got something negative to say, say it passively through the internet. I always have said I should post rants about bad service at a restaurant online, or talk up places I'm impressed with. So I've decided I will. That's that.
