Bus Stop Change
From 2004 LP The City

As I left your doorstep, I tripped and I fell on the street.
The snow on my face stung me hard, and it filled me with heat.
I can't believe you harbored all of your pain,
And waited till today to let it all drain.
No prior warning; no way to know.
You just built up a dam then you let it all flow,
And then said I don't want your excuses I just want you to go.
A collection of pictures with all of our fantasies,
Burned in the fire of anguish and memory.
Congratulations you got me, you caught me off guard.
I just never expected that it would all hit me so hard.

Don't hope for reunion, it'll just end up quick aggravation;
To pencil in time when I'd rather erase your sensation.
I cannot be sure that I'll see you again,
But know that when I do, I won't call you a friend.
You took me upon a roller coaster ride,
And if I wouldn't have left, I know I would have surely died,
From you face, and your care, and the promise from all of your lies.
A collection of pictures with all of our fantasies,
Burned in the fire of anguish and memory.
Congratulations, you got me, you caught me off guard.
I just never expected that this would all hit me so hard.

As I sat and pondered the change that I held in my hand,
The bus came and left seven times, just like it said on the plan.
I could not get on; I could not depart.
To begin to flex a muscle; to even think to start,
Moving on, moving passed the inflection that ripped us apart.
A collection of pictures with all of our fantasies,
Burned in the fire of anguish and memory.
Congratulations, you got me, you caught me off guard.
I just never expected that this would all hit me so hard.
